Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Sports Funding
The government has continued its funding of sports premium for the next academic year 2022 to 2023. This is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Each school will receive £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil for this year only – here at Whale Hill that will mean around £20,520 a year. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
Purpose of the funding
All schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but there is freedom to choose how we do it. The increased funding is to develop or add to the PE and sports activities that the school already offers. At Whale Hill Primary School we aim to provide a broad, balanced and inclusive physical education programme. Furthermore, we aim to use the additional funds to build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements will benefit pupils of the future. Our aims in teaching P.E. are that all children will:
- Develop confidence and competence in a range of activities and skills.
- Acquire a positive attitude towards and an enjoyment of physical activity.
- Engage in competitive sports and activities.
- Begin to see physical activity as part of a healthy life style.
- Be able to take part in physical activity for sustained periods of time.
- Learn to work in co-operation with others.
- Achieve 25 metres by the end of KS2.
